Background of the Study: Personal hygiene plays a crucial role in the prevention of various infectious diseases, including diarrheal diseases, respiratory infections, and skin conditions (Olumide et al., 2023). In Taraba State, as in many parts of Nigeria, poor hygiene practices contribute to the high burden of preventable diseases, especially among children and vulnerable populations (Adedokun & Adebayo, 2024). Nurses, through their roles in health education, are in a prime position to improve personal hygiene practices by teaching communities about the importance of proper handwashing, waste disposal, safe drinking water, and general cleanliness (Afolabi et al., 2023).
Nurse-led health education initiatives have been shown to improve hygiene behaviors and reduce the incidence of hygiene-related diseases in various regions. However, the effectiveness of these programs in Taraba State has not been extensively studied. This study will evaluate the impact of nurse-led health education on improving personal hygiene practices in the state and its potential for enhancing public health outcomes.
Statement of the Problem: Poor personal hygiene practices are a major contributor to preventable diseases in Taraba State, particularly among rural populations. Nurses are actively involved in health education, yet the extent to which their interventions have influenced hygiene practices remains unclear. This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of nurse-led health education programs in improving personal hygiene and preventing hygiene-related diseases in Taraba State.

Scope and Limitations of the Study: The study will focus on nurse-led health education programs in Taraba State and evaluate their impact on personal hygiene practices. Limitations include challenges in measuring behavioral change over time and potential variability in the implementation of health education programs.
